Issues in accessing care
All sarcoma patients should have their care co-ordinated by a sarcoma specialist centre. This means that they must be referred to this centre. There is no single route to these centres – some patients may be referred by their GP after diagnostic tests, while others may be referred from A&E or from another consultant.
What are we doing?
To improve the speed at which sarcomas are diagnosed and which issues occur at which point in the pathway, we want to understand all of the routes into each sarcoma specialist centre.
“Sarcoma patients are diagnosed in many different settings, making their route to diagnosis more complex than it needs to be. This project will help us understand how patients are diagnosed and help improve this in the future.”
– Bradley Price, Policy & Public Affairs Manager
