Early diagnosis saves lives
As a GP, you’re likely to see fewer than five patients with sarcoma throughout your career, but your expertise can make a life-saving difference.
3 out of 4 people will turn to you first, and your referral starts the pathway to specialist care. Spotting when something needs further investigation is the first step.
Sarcoma is a rare cancer that often presents with lumps or unexplained bone pain, and can mimic more common conditions. For every 1cm increase in tumour size at diagnosis, there is a 3-5% decrease in the chance of cure. Early referral can change outcomes and save lives.
