A team of insurance brokers who clocked up 1.3 million steps in a workplace wellness challenge have donated their £5,000 prize to sarcoma research in memory of a 21-year-old woman who died from the rare cancer.
Staff from BDB Group took part in their annual wellbeing challenge. The winning team completed an amazing 1.3 million steps and was able to choose which charity should benefit from a donation from BDB.
They selected Sarcoma UK in memory of Isobel Allen, from Hornchurch, who was aged just 21 when she died from sarcoma. Her cousin, Jake Noble, is a broker at BDB. Managing Director Steve Toye also knew Isobel.
Jake said: “Sarcoma UK is a charity which is so very close to me and my family’s heart. I am grateful to BDB for choosing to donate the prize money to such a great cause, I know this will go a long way to help with the diagnosis and treatment of sarcoma.”
Isobel was an accounts manager at a recruitment company. Following months of pain, she was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2023 aged 19. After two years of treatment, she died in April this year.

Greis said: “We are so grateful to BDB for visiting us today and presenting this donation. It will help Sarcoma UK in its work to support research that could see sarcomas like Isobel’s caught earlier. Early detection can make all the difference to a patient’s treatment and outcomes.”
