Sarcoma UK is looking to recruit three to four new trustees to join our Board.
Our trustees play a vital role in setting the long-term direction of the charity, protecting our values and making sure we deliver for people affected by sarcoma.
We are looking for people who can bring experience, judgement and commitment to our work. You do not need previous trustee experience. Knowledge gained through your career, voluntary roles, personal experience or community involvement may all be valuable.
We welcome applications from people with different backgrounds, career paths and life experiences. Sarcoma UK is committed to diversity and inclusion in the widest sense, including diversity of thought, professional experience and personal perspective.
We would particularly welcome applications from people who have direct experience of sarcoma, either as a patient, carer, family member, healthcare professional or in another capacity.
Skills we are particularly looking for
For this recruitment round, we are especially keen to hear from people with experience in:
- HR, including people, culture, organisational development or employment practice
- Primary care or general practice, including experience as a GP, primary care clinician or senior primary care professional
- Marketing, including strategic marketing, audience development, brand, digital or communications
We are not expecting any one person to bring all of these skills.
‘You get experience that it might take 30 years to get in a regular job.’
What trustees do
As a trustee, you will help:
- set the long-term vision and strategy for Sarcoma UK
- provide support and constructive challenge to the Chief Executive and leadership team
- ensure strong governance in line with charity and company law
- protect the charity’s values, reputation and financial sustainability
- strengthen relationships with partners, funders, healthcare professionals and the wider sarcoma community
Being a trustee is a serious responsibility, but it is also a rewarding way to use your skills and experience for public benefit.
Essentially, we would like to benefit from what makes you unique.
Please find the Trustee Recruitment Pack below for more information. If you would like to apply for the position of Trustee please send your CV, along with a brief covering letter to: jobs@sarcoma.org.uk explaining your interest in Sarcoma UK and how you believe you could contribute as a trustee.
