International randomised controlled trial of chemotherapy for treatment of Recurrent and Primary Refractory Ewing Sarcoma
Age: 2 years old and above
Phase: 2
If you have Ewing sarcoma which cannot be removed by surgery or has returned after initial treatment, you may be given chemotherapy. This study originally compared four different chemotherapy treatments, but has since dropped three of the original treatments and has added an additional two chemotherapy treatments to compare. Therefore, this study now compares three different chemotherapy treatments:
carboplatin and etoposide (CE)
high-dose ifosfamide (IFOS)
high dose ifosfamide and lenvatinib (IFOS-L)
The aim of the trial is to find out which treatment works best and which has the fewest side effects. IFOS has shown evidence that it is likely to be more effective at controlling the disease than Topotecan and Cyclophosphamide (TC), Irinotecan and Temozolomide (IT) and Gemcitabine and Docetaxel (GD), which were previous chemotherapy regimens in this trial. Carboplatin and Etoposide (CE) and high dose Ifosfamide and Lenvatinib (IFOS-L) have been added to the study, to compare against high dose ifosfamide (IFOS).
