Becky Hughes was diagnosed with an abdominal Desmoid tumour in 2018. Throughout her successful treatment and recovery, the benefits of increased strength and fitness due to her dedication to weight training were clear, and this soon inspired her to want to help other patients and survivors. In 2021 she qualified first as a Level 3 Personal Trainer, and then a Level 4 CanRehab Cancer Exercise and Rehabilitation specialist. She now works with clients both online and via a gym in Crawley, West Sussex.
Becky is a strong supporter of the patient voice, and joined the Grant Review Panel as a Lay Member in order to support this alongside her work as a personal trainer. Being a panellist is also a great way for her to stay up to date on new research taking place, as well as acting as a volunteer for Sarcoma UK. You can find out more about Becky’s work here.
