Dr Olivier Pardo is senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London.
He was course director for the MRes Cancer Biology at Imperial between 2006 and 2021 and still teaches extensively on the course. Dr Pardo’s laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of drug resistance and metastasis in cancer.
He has examined the role of different members of the S6 kinase family in both processes and pinpointed how the growth factor FGF-2 was involved in resistance to chemotherapy drugs. His work utilises biochemical and molecular biology techniques alongside screening, drug discovery, experimental imaging and bioinformatics. Dr Pardo obtained his Doctorate in Pharmacy and MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University Paris V, France before moving to Imperial College to work for his PhD.
After a postdoctoral fellowship with Cancer Research UK, Dr Pardo returned to Imperial College to set up his own research team.
