Starting this weekend, comedian and Glitter Ball 2022 star Angela Barnes’ husband, Matthew, is going to be taking to the streets (and hills) to run coast to coast to raise funds for Sarcoma UK. Angela and Matthew’s good friend, comedian Phil Jerrod, sadly died from sarcoma last year.
Matthew plans to run seven hilly marathons in seven days, from the St Bees on the Cumbrian coast in the west, to Robin Hood’s Bay in the east, along the Wainwright Coast to Coast path.
On his challenge, Matthew says ‘Most itineraries cover it as a 12-14 day hike. I’m going to be trying to run it in 7 days, which works out at roughly a marathon a day over some of England’s hilliest countryside. It’s nowhere near being a record, but it’s a massive challenge for me. I’ve never done anything like it before.’
