Sarcoma UK is looking for a Challenge Events Assistant to support the delivery of our growing challenge events portfolio.
This is a new, fixed-term role with a particular focus on supporting the expansion of the London Marathon into a two-day event, while helping provide excellent stewardship to a growing number of challenge event fundraisers.
You will work closely with the Senior Challenge Events Officer and wider fundraising team, supporting event administration, fundraiser communications, supporter care, event-day activity and reporting. You will also help gather fundraising stories and impact messages to support our communications work.
This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and confident communicating with supporters. You may already have experience in fundraising, events, supporter care, volunteering or another customer-facing role. Most importantly, you will be keen to learn, able to manage a varied workload and committed to helping improve the lives of people affected by sarcoma.

Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide day-to-day support across Sarcoma UK’s challenge events portfolio
- Act as a point of contact for challenge event fundraisers
- Support the delivery of the London Marathon, including stewardship, the Running Show and after party
- Help administer registrations, deadlines, record-keeping and post-event evaluations
- Assist with event-day experiences such as cheer stations and receptions
- Support the creation of challenge event content for online and offline channels
- Help gather fundraising stories, case studies and supporter achievements
- Provide friendly, timely support to fundraisers by post, email and telephone
- Send fundraising materials and packs to supporters
- Maintain accurate supporter records using Raiser’s Edge
- Work in line with fundraising legislation, GDPR, health and safety regulations and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Conduct
- The role may involve occasional evening or weekend work.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone with:
- A good level of general education, including strong English and maths skills
- Some experience of fundraising, events or customer/supporter care
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- The ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines
- A genuine interest in challenge events and fundraising
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Good written, phone and face-to-face communication skills
- A highly organised and detail-focused approach
- Tact, discretion and sensitivity when handling sensitive information
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
- A commitment to Sarcoma UK’s promise and strategic aims
- Experience in the charity sector, events or projects, fundraising CRM systems or fundraising regulations would be helpful, but is not essential.
