Team Sarcoma pulled on their hiking boots to climb the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in memory of Gaz Emmerson.
Members of Gaz’s family and friends were among the climbers who took part in the Three Peaks for Gaz Challenge earlier this month. A total of 46 climbers have raised more than £63,000.
Gaz became heavily involved with Sarcoma UK from 2020 following his initial diagnosis of Ewing’s sarcoma in 2014, relapsing in 2016. He raised more than £140,000 for us and was named London Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2021.
He wanted to complete the Three Peaks Challenge for Sarcoma UK himself in the summer of 2022, however his health did not allow for this, and he sadly died in August last year, aged 29.
The 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge started in Scotland with Ben Nevis (1,345m), before moving on to Scafell Pike in the Lake District (978m). The final peak conquered was Mount Snowdon in Wales (1,085m).
