Sarcoma UK celebrity ambassador, Jake Quickenden tells his personal story on London Live
Startling statistics reveal that 89% of the public is unaware of sarcoma, and among those who are familiar with it, 29% are not aware of its key symptoms. Sarcoma is the third most common cancer in children, with 5,300 diagnoses in the UK annually.
During the London Live interview, Sarcoma UK’s celebrity ambassador, Jake Quickenden, shared his personal experience with sarcoma, and the signs and symptoms of this type of cancer. He also discussed the launch of our ‘Does Size Matter’ campaign, which features four unique stories of individuals affected by sarcoma.
The ‘Does Size Matter’ campaign aims to challenge the misconception that size doesn’t matter when it comes to sarcoma. In fact, the size of a sarcoma tumour is key to determining prognosis and treatment options for patients.
Our efforts during Sarcoma Awareness Month are crucial in shedding light on this often-misunderstood cancer. By increasing awareness and understanding, more lives can be saved through early detection and effective treatment. To learn more and access support and advice, visit sarcoma.org.uk/size.
