About the challenge
What is the Turn the Page Read-a-thon?
Turn the Page is a 28-day read-a-thon challenge. We challenge you to read 4 books in 4 weeks to make a huge difference for sarcoma research, treatments and support.
Do I have to read anything specific?
You are free to read whatever you wish to, fiction or non-fiction. You can read on your e-reader or a traditional paperback, or why not try an audiobook? The choice is yours. Remember, if you really enjoy a book to recommend it in the Facebook group, you may find someone else has picked up that title!
4 books in 4 weeks?
We know reading habits vary person to person so all we’re asking is for you to commit to a reading challenge in February.
If you’re a rapid reader and want to double the challenge to 8 books in a month please feel free to! Similarly, if you take things at a slower pace feel free to change your challenge to less. This is your challenge your way and you can read as much as you like.
How do I prove I’ve been reading?
We trust you will be honest with your reading challenge, but we recommend sharing your progress with friends and family to encourage sponsorship! Download and print this handy tracker to keep a note of your reading throughout the month.
Who can take part in the challenge?
You need to be 18 years or more to register for this challenge and to set up a fundraising page. However, under-18s are more than welcome to join the challenge accompanied by an adult. We think this challenge is the perfect family fundraising activity for those wintery February evenings!
How do I take part?
How do I sign up?
To take part in the challenge, join our private read-a-thon Facebook group (think of it as an online book club!).
Once you have joined the group, you will find instructions on how to register for the challenge and receive your free Sarcoma UK bookmark and pin badge.
I don’t have Facebook. Can I still take part?
Yes of course – you can take part in Turn the Page online and offline! If you want to fundraise online, you can set up a JustGiving page instead of a Facebook fundraiser. Share your JustGiving page with friends and family to let them know that you’re taking on this challenge and ask them for sponsorship.
Fill out this form and click on the JustGiving option at the bottom to get started.
If you would like to fundraise offline you can download and print our sponsorship form to keep a track of your donations and help collect Gift Aid.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our fundraising team at fundraising@sarcoma.org.uk.
How do I get my Sarcoma UK bookmark?
How do I order my bookmark and pin badge?
When you fill out the registration form, we will automatically send you a free bookmark and Sarcoma UK pin badge to help you raise awareness throughout the challenge.
Please note that bookmarks and badges are limited to one per registration and we do have a limited supply. When our stock runs out we will not have any more – so be quick!
How long will my bookmark and badge take to arrive?
Your bookmark and pin badge will take up to one week to arrive once you have registered for the read-a-thon challenge.

Yes. If you would like to fundraise as a group, then the lead fundraiser should complete the registration form and set up a fundraiser.
This page can be shared on behalf of the group. To receive your free bookmarks and badges, please email fundraising@sarcoma.org.uk with a link to your fundraiser and the names and emails of everyone taking part.
How do I get people to sponsor me?
Once you have set up your fundraiser, share it on your social media channels with your friends, family, and colleagues. Let them know how important this challenge is to you and how vital the money raised is to bone and soft tissue cancer patients and their loved ones.
Check out our fundraising pack with more tips and tricks too.
I don’t want to use a Facebook Fundraiser. How else can I fundraise for the challenge?
You can fundraise offline using a sponsorship form, or you can set up a JustGiving page.
How can someone donate who is not on Facebook?
You can ask them to give you the donation and then you can add this to your fundraising page yourself. Or ask them to donate through our website, JustGiving or via a cheque sent to Sarcoma UK at 17/18 Angel Gate, City Road, London, EC1V 2PT.
If you do have anyone donating to your fundraiser through these channels, make sure they include your name and Turn the Page Read-a-thon in the reference so we can attribute the donation to your fundraising.
Please note that we are not able to add offline donations to Facebook donate fundraisers.
