Alan is a sarcoma clinical nurse specialist (CNS) based in Glasgow. He registered as a nurse in 2007 and has been working with sarcoma patients for a large part of the time since. He worked as a staff nurse on an orthopaedic ward where he would be involved in the immediate post-operative care of sarcoma patients who’d had tumour resections, then since 2019 as a CNS. Alan and colleagues set up a support group during the pandemic with support from Sarcoma UK.

He said: “I am hoping I can use my day-to-day experiences from my work life to help speak for patients and help us focus on the things that matter most to patients and their families.”
