Professor Kasper is a medical oncologist who leads the Mannheim Cancer Center (MCC) at the Mannheim University Medical Center.
His work in the Sarcoma Unit focuses on patient care and clinical research into soft tissue sarcomas (STS), desmoid-type fibromatosis (DF) and gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST). He is head of the study centre of the German Interdisciplinary Sarcoma Group (GISG) and is active in national and international research and patient advocacy groups such as the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group (STBSG) and Sarcoma Patient Advocacy Global Network (SPAGN). He is the Principal Investigator of several national and international trials on STS, DF and GIST.
Professor Kasper studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg and completed his thesis at the German Cancer Research Centre, before training in hospitals in London, Brussels and South Kerala. He specialised in Internal Medicine and Medical Haematology/Oncology at the University of Heidelberg before taking up his current position.
