‘We wish we had been given this when we were diagnosed.’ That was the feedback about the pre-diagnostic information sheet we got at a recent wellbeing event hosted by the South West team in Plymouth.
The sheet is aimed at people who have been referred to a sarcoma specialist centre but who have not yet been diagnosed. The clear, colourful leaflet explains what sarcoma is, and why a referral to a specialist sarcoma team is important to get the right diagnosis.
We produced these leaflets to answer some of the questions we get asked on the Support Line from people who have been referred but don’t yet have a diagnosis.
- What is sarcoma?
- Does this mean I have sarcoma?
- Why have I been referred?
- What will happen at my appointment?
- Why am I waiting so long for my results?
We are distributing the information sheet to cancer information centres all over the UK and Clinical Nurse Specialists are including it in appointment letters to patients.
