Going the distance

Are you dreaming of the day when you’ll be able to travel again and climb some of the world’s most spectacular mountains such as Mount Kilimanjaro? 

Whether you run, walk or stroll or cycle, once, twice or 5 times a week, you can complete the distance, your way at your pace - it's your virtual Mount Kilimanjaro challenge.  Join #TeamSarcoma at home, at the park, or on the streets and climb Mount Kilimanjaro.  

Why not team up with your friends climb together, you could set a time limit to make it an even tougher challenge! Or if there is an even bigger group, see how many times you can climb Mount Kilimanjaro in a month! 

Mount Kilimanjaro is 5,895meters tall, and the Machame Route is approximately 62 km/ 37 miles which takes you right to the top.  

Sarcoma UK challenges you to get to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro… and back down again! How will you tackle the 74 mile route?!

  • Mount Kilimanjaro, 11790 meters, 74 miles, 76,634 steps, approx. 2554 stairs (don’t forget you have to come back down again!) 
  • These steps are estimated and are worked out on taking 6.5 stairs/steps to achieve a height of 1 metre.
