A lot has changed since Glitter Ball 2020
This time last year we were preparing for our first ever Sarcoma UK Glitter Ball. We never imagined that this would be one of the last times we were going to be able to gather as a large group and raise vital funds for Sarcoma UK. Fundraising this year has been extremely difficult with many events being cancelled and postponed. This has had a huge impact on the charity sector and Sarcoma UK.
Our Glitter Ball was a huge success and we raised in excess of £32,000. This money raised enabled us at the start of the pandemic to increase our vital Support Line, where demand for our services had increased by 179%. Meanwhile, because so many events were cancelled, our annual income has fallen by 40%. Covid-19 has had a devastating effect on all cancer treatments, it is estimated that over 50,000 cancers have gone undiagnosed during this time. We assure you that we will continue to do all we can to be the voice of those diagnosed with and affected by sarcoma cancer.
June 2021 marks the year of Sarcoma UK's tenth anniversary. We have lots of exciting plans and ways to mark this milestone across the year together with our supporters. This anniversary will be an opportunity for us to proudly reflect on the breakthroughs made, as well as plan for future goals. Our main anniversary event will be our Glitter Ball planned for 5 March 2022.
