Here is what Emily had to say about her charity tattoo raffle in memory of her friend, Libby Woodland:
I recently lost one of my best friends of over 10 years, Libby Woodland, to both sarcoma and a rare ovarian cancer, small cell carcinoma of the ovaries. I want to raise as much money and awareness for the two as much a possible, as it’s not very well known.
As a tattoo artist there is always demand for tattoos, and the chance to win a tattoo for just £5 a ticket is very enticing to a lot of people! I thought this would be a fantastic way to raise money for the charity, as we had no limit on the amount of tickets people could purchase! The response to it all has been absolutely phenomenal, with some people buying as many as 10 tickets each, I wasn’t expecting to raise half as much as we have! I’m so grateful and overwhelmed by everyone who has contributed, whether it’s been buying of tickets or sharing the raffle posts on Facebook, it really means a lot, not only to me, but all of her family and friends too.
The artists involved include Mark Bailey - award winning artist and owner of Golden Dragon Tattoo Studio with over 25 years experience in the industry, Jane Mosley - Senior Artist who specialises in black & grey, and has been with the studio for around 7 years now, Robert Blythin - Junior Artist who specialises in colourful comic/anime tattoos and has been with the studio for just over 2 years, and me, Emily Herridge - Junior Artist who specialises in pet portraits, jewels & anything bright & colourful. Mark, Jane & Rob had never met Libby, but were so supportive & willing to help raise money, I cannot thank them enough for all of their help and offering up a tattoo prize each themselves.
